MIGRATIONS
Instrumental arrangements by Jeremy Koontz
The Northern Wheatear makes one of the longest journeys of any small bird, crossing ocean, ice, and desert. It migrates from Sub-Saharan Africa in Spring over a vast area of the northern hemisphere that includes northern and central Asia, Europe, Greenland, Alaska, and parts of Canada. In
Autumn, all return to Africa, where their ancestors had wintered. Their migrations are the longest recorded of any songbird, and the physical faculties that allow them to make these journeys can be vexing. Migrations is a compilation of pieces from various projects during the past few years. Essentially, they represent determination, drive, moving forward despite boundaries, setbacks, and oppositions. Even when we have a clear, well-defined goal set in our minds, at some point we must allow the power of faith to carry us toward that which is gloriously inexplicable. These pieces are the manifestation of our desire "to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield." Length: 43min. |
