ABOUT
Thank you for taking the time to listen to my work and share my combined passion for music and running. The music, representations of the various mental states I've experienced during many years of running and racing, as well as tone paintings of the diverse terrains and environments through which my feet have carried me, endeavors to depict and enrich the experience of running. I have uploaded the music in its entirety for you to enjoy any time online, but would also greatly appreciate your support of my work by your purchase of one, a few, or even all of the tracks for you to enjoy wherever your running takes you. A brief summary of key elements found in the music...
RHYTHM: Finding and maintaining a solid mental and mechanical rhythm is essential to a great run. Breathing patterns in particular must eventually find a perfect synchronization with foot falls. The tempo of each WAVEFORM track is set within the range of ideal running cadences (150 - 180 steps per minute). Distinct instrumentation serves as a "metronome" to help you lock into that cadence and find your perfect rhythm.
BRAINWAVE ENTRAINMENT HARMONICS: WAVEFORM Runscapes employ the use of brainwave entrainment techniques, subtly increasing the runner's mental focus and stimulating brainwave patterns that can dissolve mental obstacles. The instrumentation and harmonic progressions of each track is developed over a fundamental frequency known to trigger one of several types of brainwave patterns experienced by endurance athletes who've found their "second wind."
AUTOKINESTHETICS and PSYCHODYNAMICS: WAVEFORM instrumentation and rhythmic patterns are also specifically arranged to sync with the triggering of specific muscle groups, further encouraging mechanical rhythm. Harmonic progressions, musical dynamics and articulations, and phrasing of carefully composed melodies serve to encourage positive progressions through various emotional and intellectual states as well as stimulate positive visualizations.
ZEN MEDITATION : Running is a meditative and, some might even say, a ritualistic act. During the run, we all experience some form of self-realization, and the clarity, simplicity, and feeling of fulfillment we experience after a great run takes us toward some form of higher understanding that we can rarely put into words. WAVEFORM seeks to encourage a sense of detachment from the world and from self in which the runner can pursue higher degrees of clarity and truly RUN FREE.
WAVEFORM tracks can be used throughout an entire run as well as in particular phases of a run.
